2009-12-31: End of month report
100% Uptime
This month we had 100% uptime for all services.
Upgrades
Some VPSs were moved onto our new infrastructure, featuring improved hardware and updated KVM. These VPSs were down for scheduled maintenance for less than 5 minutes each.
The key benefits of the new infrastructure include:
Faster processors
The new servers have quad core 2.5GHz energy efficient CPUs. They also use DDR3 for improved performance and energy efficiency.
Faster I/O
We have increased the number of drives on each node from 2 to 3. The extra spindle provides both increased throughput and operations per second. By switching from 3.5" to 2.5" drives (with near identical performance profiles) we have also decreased overall power consumption as well.
KVM 86
This newer version of KVM provides improved performance, improved OS support, and has been customized by us for better virtual CD handling.
Full N+1 redundancy
Our previous servers are now being used as dedicated spares. In the event of a failure we can now recover VPSs on these spares rather than spreading the load across other active servers.
